Location: Telluride, CO

Schedule: Monday Friday, starting around 6:30 AM; occasional evening/weekend work during peak periods

Compensation: $25.00 $30.00 per hour + housing provided + company vehicle + full benefits

Position Overview

Were hiring a Senior Field Technician to support geotechnical field operations during a $400 million luxury resort construction project at the base of Tellurides ski resort. In this role, youll serve as the primary on-site representative during excavation and foundation phases, managing field inspections, communicating with contractors, transporting soil and concrete samples, and documenting all test results.

Youll perform daily field testing on excavation, structural fill, caissons, and backfill; coordinate inspections with contractors and subcontractors; and oversee concrete sampling and breaks. Youll also help coordinate with CTLs temporary Montrose lab and prepare the site for additional staffing as the project scales. This is a hands-on, self-directed role with long-term potential in the Western Slope region.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct field testing and inspection of excavation, deep foundation (caisson), and backfill work
  • Monitor earth retention systems and structural fill compaction
  • Oversee concrete sampling, testing, and scheduling of breaks
  • Transport samples to a temporary off-site lab in Montrose
  • Log samples, submit field reports, and maintain testing documentation
  • Serve as the daily point of contact for contractors and subcontractors on-site
  • Coordinate with office project managers and assist with system setup for future phases
  • Support regional growth and transition into future Western Slope projects


Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in construction inspection or geotechnical field testing
  • Hands-on experience with excavation, caissons, and backfill operations
  • ACI certification (or willingness to obtain before concrete phase)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a field leadership role
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record


Preferred

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering, geology, or related field
  • Experience working in mountain environments or resort construction sites
  • Long-term interest in Western Colorado work and field leadership
