LaPlante Home Services is looking for a highly skilled and reliable handyman/construction technician to join our Service Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling basic repair and maintenance tasks that require attention within all LaPlante buildings and customer locations as needed for install/service jobs. They will identify repair needs and service equipment and fixtures. They will also directly support install and service jobs as required in customer's homes.

The ideal candidate for this role must possess strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, skillful hands, and good physical stamina.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out routine or minor repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Resolving minor electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues, such as replacing light bulbs, fixing clogged pipes, or replacing AC filters.
  • Ensure mechanical equipment, machinery, and appliances are in working order and fixed as necessary.
  • Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.
  • Regularly check community spaces to identify issues with litter, mechanical failure, or breakdowns.
  • Complete general building cleaning and maintenance.
  • Repair and paint doors, windows, walls, ceilings, roofs, and other parts of the building – both at LaPlante locations and customer's residents.
  • Maintain trash and recycling receptacles around the facility.
  • Repair plumbing, electrical, and safety systems.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of outside spaces such as parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Conducting routine facility inspections to identify any issues that need repair or maintenance.
  • Handling carpentry jobs, such as installing furniture or repairing doors.
  • Handling odd jobs around the facility.
  • Using various hand and power tools without supervision.
  • Managing an accurate inventory of repair supplies and maintenance equipment to ensure that all stocks are replenished on time.
  • Keeping an accurate record of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' working experience in a similar role.
  • Solid experience with plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
  • Extremely organized with good communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday, normal business hours.
  • Willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to support the installation team at client homes and properties as needed.

  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, such as chemicals, dust, or mold.
