Heavy Equipment Driver - Construction
To assure all construction equipment arrives in a timely, safe manner while adhering to all local, state and federal DOT guidelines. This includes assisting with loading, unloading and transporting construction equipment and assets to different construction project sites. This is a traveling role. Key Responsibilities
As a Heavy Equipment Driver Technician this position is responsible and accountable for the following essential functions:
- Primary responsibility will be to deliver and pick up equipment from project sites
- Perform DVIR checks and reports defects as required
- Communicate with project materials managers to receive delivery and pick-up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick-up.
- Prepares, receives, and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick-up of items to ensure all requirements are met
- Applies for heavy haul permits, provides routes, and ensure compliance with permitting instructions
- Loads, secures, and unloads items
- Able to operate material handling equipment
- Completes Electronic Driver's Logs (ELD)
- Maintains the cleanliness and fuel levels in the company truck
- When time permits this position will help inside the warehouse
- Comply will all required DOT regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred high school graduate with some college experience.

- 8+ years of Heavy Haul Oversized Equipment Transport
- Previous Oversized Load Transport
- Triple Endorsement Class A CDL
- Forklift certified
- Mechanical skills
Minimum Qualifications
- 1+ years of over the road heavy haul experience utilizing double and triple trailers
- 5+ years of experience with Oversized Heavy Haul Equipment
- Understanding and capable of obtaining DOT Permits for Heavy Haul.
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Travel may be required.
- Typically, a mixture of office, warehouse, laydown yard, and construction project site environment.
- Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
- Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
- Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions
- Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
- Work around hazardous equipment.
- Requires exposure to high places.
Physical Demands
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas, see and hear naturally or with correction.
- Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
- Requires repetitive movement.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12-hour shift, doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
