Colacurcio Brothers is looking for experienced heavy civil Heavy Equipment Operators, Grade Checkers, & Pipe Layers to join our heavy civil crews on both private and prevailing wage projects. Primary responsibilities include working safely and efficiently in a variety of positions including operating heavy equipment, top man/pipe crew foreman, pipe layer, and grade checker for a variety of commercial applications including commercial excavation, earth moving, site preparation, road building, and utility projects. While it is not required that every applicant be skilled in every discipline, it is preferred that our operators and laborers have a wide range of experience and a versatile skill set. This position offers training and the ability for advancement to employees who are willing to work hard and take on increasing responsibility. We are looking for team members whose primary skill set include awareness for the safety of themselves and those working around them, a strong work ethic, the ability to work as a team, and a commitment to quality. This position REQUIRES Three (3) years heavy/civil construction experience in your chosen discipline.
A current driver's license is required. Employees should be willing to travel within Whatcom, Skagit, Island, and Snohomish counties. In addition, Colacurcio is a drug free workplace and job offers will be contingent on a pre-employment drug test.
Rate of Pay: $28.00 - $47.00 / Hour

Laborers / Pipe Layers Key Skills & Experience Preferred:
Experience safely operating a variety of hand tools and construction power tools.
Experience laboring on a wide range of heavy civil projects including commercial site preparation, mainline utility construction, road building, land clearing, and earth moving.
Experience performing various tasks such as shoveling, sweeping, unloading building materials, preparing work areas for construction, and tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
Ability to safely and efficiently assemble and install underground pipe and conduit on grade. Experience with a variety of pipe sizes and types is preferred, including PVC, HDPE, Ductile Iron, Concrete, and other common pipe.
Experience working with and in a variety of trench safety equipment.
Ability to accurately read plan plans and blueprints and then calculate slopes and grades, and lay out excavations including efficient and accurate staking.
Ability to perform attentive spotting for operators and hand locate around existing utilities.
Some experience operating heavy equipment, such as backhoes, rollers, and loaders, safely and efficiently.
Experience with minor daily equipment maintenance (i.e. fluids, grease, and lubricants).
Ability to maintain clear and accurate time-card and work diaries.
Ability to perform physical demands of the job including lifting heavy objects, walking/standing for long periods of time and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Ability to perform essential functions safely in various outdoor weather conditions (wet/cold/heat), in quickly changing conditions, and near moving equipment and machinery.
Equipment Operator Key Skills & Experience Preferred:
Experience safely operating a variety of equipment including excavators, backhoes, wheel loaders, bulldozers, graders, and rollers.
Experience operating on a wide range of heavy civil projects including commercial site preparation, mainline utility construction, road building, land clearing, and earth moving.
Ability to safely and efficiently dig around existing underground utilities, cut and fill to grade, load trucks, excavate and backfill trenches to desired compaction, and lay utilities including pipe, structures, and vaults.
Experience operating with and around a variety of shoring and trench safety equipment.
Ability to accurately read plan plans and blueprints and then calculate slopes and grades and lay out excavations including efficient and accurate staking.
Ability to perform a thorough daily equipment inspection.
Experience with minor daily equipment maintenance (i.e. fluids, grease, and lubricants).
Ability to maintain clear and accurate timecard and work diaries.
Must have a strong work ethic, safety first attitude, and commitment to quality.
