The Human Resources Director, Construction is responsible for the development and execution of human resource (HR) plans to support leadership in the achievement of Black & Veatch Construction business objectives. This position is a member of the Black & Veatch Construction Leadership Team and will lead all HR related activities including the development and execution of talent strategies. They will partner with the COE's as needed for the implementation of HR programs. This role is located onsite in Kansas City.
Key responsibilities include actively participating in the development and execution of talent strategies, acting as a coach to leaders to foster high-performing teams and positive morale across the business, and cultivating a partnering relationship with management and professionals while maintaining an HR perspective. The role also involves performing as a change agent for implementing new HR programs and processes, advising management and professionals on the interpretation of personnel policies, and ensuring compliance and understanding of HR policies. Additionally, the position involves supervising the work of others, responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of progressive HR experience in one or more functional areas. Applicants must have work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Black & Veatch Management Consulting. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements which may include criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred qualifications include HR certification, direct hire construction support experience, broad basic knowledge of all functional areas in HR, strong understanding of employment law, and a good understanding of construction industry, market, technology, business model and metrics.
