Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking a Lead Cost Control Manager to oversee the financial performance of complex data center construction projects for a global technology client. This leadership role will drive strategic cost management, ensure financial integrity, and support project delivery excellence across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead cost control efforts across large-scale data center projects, ensuring financial health and alignment with client goals.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, providing strategic insights to project teams and clients.
Manage cash flow, pay applications, and change management processes with precision and transparency.
Identify and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.
Serve as a senior point of contact for client-facing engagements, presenting financial updates and recommendations.
Location Requirement:
This position requires working locally with our client in Rayville, LA. Relocation support is available. If full relocation isn’t feasible, a per diem may be offered provided you can work onsite Monday through Friday.
Detailed Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain comprehensive project budgets, forecasts, and cost control systems.
Track and report project expenditures, preparing and analyzing cost reports for internal and client use.
Monitor cost performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with project managers, finance, and procurement teams to ensure accurate invoicing and financial planning.
Lead procurement strategies, vendor selection, and contract negotiations.
Oversee contract administration and ensure compliance with legal and client requirements.
Conduct risk assessments and implement cost-related management protocols.
Prepare cost estimates and maintain a robust project cost database.
Represent Turner & Townsend in client meetings, offering expert guidance on cost management.
Provide regular project status updates and detailed progress reports.
Ensure all cost management activities meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts; monitor actuals and take corrective actions as needed.
Coordinate with finance teams to manage cash inflows/outflows and prepare stakeholder reports.
Prepare and submit pay applications; review and verify subcontractor/vendor invoices.
Resolve discrepancies and maintain tracking systems for pay applications.
Document and assess changes to project scope, schedule, or budget.
Implement change management protocols and maintain a change log.
SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 8+ years in cost-focused project controls or cost management, with 5+ years on large-scale construction projects.
Proven experience in cost management, budgeting, and financial reporting within data center or large-scale commercial construction.
Advanced knowledge of cost control systems, financial forecasting tools, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional teams and client relationships.
Prior experience with data center construction or similar infrastructure projects is preferred.
