Job Description
Turner & Townsend are seeking a seasoned Logistics, Procurement, and Supply Chain Manager to lead the sourcing, delivery, and tracking of building construction components for large-scale data center projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement and logistics of materials such as structural steel, concrete, mechanical systems, and electrical infrastructure, while maintaining alignment with construction schedules and budget targets.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute procurement strategies for building materials and systems including steel, concrete, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing components. Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, OEMs, and material suppliers. Lead vendor onboarding and ensure compliance with construction specifications and delivery schedules. Oversee inbound and outbound logistics for construction materials, including freight forwarding, customs clearance, and site delivery coordination. Manage staging, storage, and just-in-time delivery of materials to minimize site congestion and optimize workflow. Collaborate with construction managers, site supervisors, and engineering teams to align material delivery with construction phases. Track and manage procurement budgets and material cost forecasts. Implement risk mitigation strategies such as alternative sourcing, buffer stock planning, and contingency logistics. Analyze market trends and pricing fluctuations for key construction commodities. Utilize ERP systems (SAP preferred) and construction management platforms to track procurement status, delivery schedules, and inventory levels. Maintain real-time dashboards and generate reports for project stakeholders on procurement progress, delays, and cost variances. Drive continuous improvement in procurement and logistics processes to reduce lead times and improve cost efficiency. Conduct root cause analysis on supply chain disruptions and implement corrective actions. Support sustainability initiatives by sourcing environmentally responsible materials and optimizing transportation routes. SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Administration (Masters preferred). 5+ years of experience in procurement and logistics for construction projects, preferably in data centers or other large-scale infrastructure. Deep understanding of construction materials, building systems, and site logistics. Proven ability to manage high-value contracts and coordinate multi-vendor strategies. Strong proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred), spreadsheets, and reporting tools. Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications for procurement planning.
