This temporary position is located in Salisbury - Rowan County.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $30.24 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Transportation. This position is located at 5780 S Main St, Salisbury, NC 28147.
The primary purpose of this position is to resolve facility maintenance issues in state-owned buildings that are overseen by the Facilities Management Division. He works under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. He must have an excellent knowledge of building codes in his area of responsibility and perform at the journey level in at least two trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, or plastering).
This position may also be required to work at another facility as directed by the Supervisor or lead mechanic, unscheduled overtime may be required during building emergencies, and employee is subject to be called in to assist with building emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays. Employee is expected to be present at work during inclement weather conditions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

• Working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials used in general maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery.
• Working knowledge of the methods, principles, and techniques used in the maintenance including electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, roofing, locks, windows, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
• Experience supervising the work of skilled or semiskilled contractors.
• Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and to estimate the amount of value of needed repairs.
• Experience using a computer to prepare and maintain routine records and reports
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification
May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
