Construction Manager
The Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring completion of projects in accordance with contracts, plans, standards, specifications, and scope of work. This position will ensure quality construction is obtained on all projects. The Construction Manager will manage assigned remodel and ground up projects nationally from beginning to end including, but not limited to, establishing project budgets, attending onsite meetings, preparing bids, and closing out projects within an approved budget and timeline. Position requires heavy travel at times up to 50%.
Open to candidates in the Northeastern US from Philadelphia, PA up to Boston, MA, preferably near major airport.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop site-specific scopes of work, budgets, and cost estimates.
- Perform detailed building surveys.
- Review design consultant's drawings and contract documents to ensure compliance with company requirements as well as landlord or developer guidelines outlined in the lease agreement.
- Coordinate and conduct the pre-bid meeting during the bid process with general contractors.
- Monitor contractor performance, quality, and adherence to the contract requirements.
- Ensure contractor adheres to the contract documents. Review project files during and after construction for compliance with project requirements.
- Perform punch list review and ensure completion of items identified on the scheduled date.
- Ensure contractor provides warranties, guarantees, equipment and maintenance manuals, as-built drawings, lien waivers, punch list sign-offs and related documents in accordance with contractual documents.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in retail construction.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Broad knowledge of building store fixtures, utilizing product placement guides, floor plans, store systems and all other aspects of interior store set-up is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Repetitive movement of hands and fingers, typing or writing.
- Occasional standing and walking.
- Walking sites under construction.
- Frequent travel.
