The Manager of Construction Operations (Strategic Operations) position will hold a key leadership role and provide vital daily leadership over multiple teams within the Black & Veatch Construction organization. This position will report directly to the Global Manager of Construction and will be the primary leader overseeing Black & Veatch Strategic Construction Operations.

  • Roll will require travel to major project locations to support assigned leaders and teams in construction execution in US domestic and international locations.
  • Providing oversight during construction on all assigned construction projects.
  • Ensuring that all construction operations on each project site comply with the applicable Safety Manuals and the Firm's safety and health program and policies.
  • Directs business development, including sales and proposal efforts for construction-only projects.
  • Champions continuous improvement efforts.

Management Responsibilities

Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 15 years of construction and/or EPC experience, based on assigned area of operations.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Global EPC experience
  • 4-year Degree in Construction, Construction Management or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience and involvement in talent management and succession planning strategies for his or her organization that have successfully addressed key leadership and organizational development needs in particular, an ability to attract key leaders.
  • An understanding of the relationship management and sales processes that translate to success in key markets and segments, particularly as they relate to capturing, planning and executing on projects
  • A track record of building strong, effective teams (attracting, developing, and retaining talent) of people with complementary skills and capabilities that deliver the required results.
  • An ability to proactively address and prioritize performance issues involving business results, projects, and people.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Power Generation, Transmission, Water, Oil & Gas, and Telecom Markets.
  • Experience with utilizing national agreements with highly restricted local agreement signatories.
  • An ability to assess markets, identify acquisition targets and, to the extent required, manage relevant elements of the integration processes.
