- You will need to have journey level knowledge pertaining to the millwright trade. Which includes welding and metal fabrication. You will complete a variety of tasks such as measure, layout, bend, shape, form and install metal, laminate, plastic components.
- You will repair and replace damaged or broken equipment components, fabrication of bracing or supports systems.
- You will provide information and respond to inquiries from PCS Managers, General Supervisors, Field Supervisors, field workers contractors, Port staff and the general public regarding assigned projects.
- You will move and maneuver metal stock onto work/cutting tables and/or into a metal shear or other cutting apparatus, to cut necessary pieces.
- You will tack and/or weld metal components together to fabricate/create parts for machinery or equipment used on Port-owned properties.
- You will be part of a composite crew, working as directed in the support of PCS projects along with other trades.
- You will repair damaged or broken items either in the shop, or onsite at one of the Port's waterfront, PCS, or Aviation properties.
- You will request parts, supplies, and/or materials needed for projects.
- You will need to complete the required LMS computer training, working from heights, first-aid, including in-person training.
- You will assist in reporting on injuries, incidents and close calls to Origami as well as notify your managers.
- You will be expected to comply with all Port of Seattle rules, policies, and construction safety regulations, in addition to the PCS work rules.
Who you are:
- Experienced - You have five (5) years of applicable journey-level millwright experience that encompasses the knowledge and skills of the daily crew job tasks.
- Educated - You possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification - You have or can obtain a welding certification within six months. You have or can obtain OSHA30 certification within six months.
- Desired - We hope you have experience building conveyor systems assemble bearings, drive packages, and machinery, journey-level millwright work in the maintenance and/or construction field, certified welder, layout, and small job estimating experience, and knowledge of repair procedures. You are OSHA 30 Certified. You have a Welding Certification.
- Driver's License - You will need a valid Washington State Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.

You have knowledge of construction means, methods and practices of respective trade. Additionally, you are comfortable using a cell phone, email, and job tracking system to receive notifications of new work orders and/or requests and to research information as needed
- Customer Service Minded - You have strong customer service and time management skills.
What else you need to know:
- Work Schedule/Environment - PCS typically works a two-shift schedule. Day shifts are Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:30pm. Night shift are Monday night-Friday morning, 8:00pm-6:30am. You will be required to work either shift as assigned based on business needs, with options for working holidays, weekends, a third shift, and emergencies. You will work indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, overwater, working at heights and/or in confined spaces. You may work in occupied areas in public view.
- Washington State Residency Requirement - Employees must establish residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.
- Overtime Eligible - You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
- Safety Requirements - You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Security Requirements - As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check and a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to access Port of Seattle Police Department equipment, office locations, systems and/or vehicles. In compliance with Federal and State laws, you will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check. You will be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire. Additionally, you must obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within the first three months of employment.
- Union Representation - This position is represented by the Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters union under a Port of Seattle Maintenance agreement that pays at 88% of scale, including paid holidays, vacation, floater days, sick leave, and other Union Benefits.
- Benefits/Pay - $54.22/hourly wage.
- In addition, you'll receive 10 paid holidays and 3 paid floater days. $5,638.88/yr. To a total of $112,777.60/annual wages, representing 2080 compensated hours, if you take no Leave Without Pay.
- You will accumulate paid vacation at 6.03 hours per pay period (~19 days per year). Available for use after you complete 180 days of employment. $200/yr safety shoe stipend,
- Shift premiums 10% swing, 15% Grave, OT (1.5), DT (2), Sick leave, jury duty, bereavement, development, paid paternal leave and training opportunities. Opportunity to voluntarily participate in POS 457 investments.
