POSITION SUMMARY The Estimator’s primary responsibilities include preparation of budgets, estimates, and pre-bid packages for construction projects to be built for clients under the design-build project delivery process as well as select bid pursuits. Responsibilities also included working with General Trades estimators and project management teams developing sections of schematic, design development and construction document estimates including soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids, and scopes of work, preparing quantity surveys, reviewing project plans and specifications for various categories of projects typically ranging from $500K to $15M. The position reports to the Director of Preconstruction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Evaluate bid/proposal requests · Prepare detailed cost estimates · Perform quantity take-offs with high level of accuracy and understanding · Review project documents · Collaborate with Preconstruction team to assemble proposals and presentations · Manage and grow design and trade partner relationships · Manage and grow client relationships · Promote DBS standard of safety and quality · Represent DBS in a professional and productive manner
RESPONSIBILITIES · Prepare quantity take-offs; estimate material, labor and equipment costs · Develop detailed scopes of work for subcontractor and vendor bidding · Solicit, receive and evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals · Work closely with pre-engineered metal building vendor to develop conceptual design and proposal for the PEMB · Manage design partners through preconstruction process · Work with construction to develop project schedules and logistics plans · Develop and present project budgets and value engineering suggestions to Owners and design teams · Manage bid list and coordinate with trade partners · Attend and participate in design development meetings · Work collaboratively with Project Managers and Superintendents for seamless project hand-off · Participate in project team meetings, client meetings and other required meetings for the duration of assigned projects · Communicate with clients to foster ongoing valuable relationships · Other related duties as assigned or needed
QUALIFICATIONS Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related technical degree preferred. Experience in estimating, preconstruction, project management for 1-3 years in the commercial construction industry. Experience in PEMB construction highly valued. Candidates should have strong math skills, ability to visualize in 2D and 3D, and an understanding of risk evaluation. This position requires a high level of fluency reading plans, specifications and related project documents. Key competencies include initiative, communication, teamwork, dependability and attention to detail. Technical Skills Preferred : On-Screen Takeoff, MS Office, Bluebeam Revu
