Position Summary:
A well-established specialty contractor is seeking a Project Engineer/Field to join its team in the DC Metro Area . This hybrid role—balanced between field operations and office-based coordination—is designed for candidates with 3–5 years of engineering experience who are looking to deepen their involvement in project execution, technical problem-solving, and the commercial aspects of construction.
The Project Engineer/Field will play a key role in the successful delivery of complex ground-related infrastructure projects, working closely with field teams, clients, and technical staff to ensure performance, quality, and safety standards are met. Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate planning, scheduling, and technical activities across assigned construction sites
Perform and document field quality control inspections to ensure conformance with project requirements
Monitor job progress, material usage, and subcontractor activity, and assist with schedule alignment
Support the development of technical documentation and project submittals
Identify and help resolve field challenges in coordination with field and office personnel
Participate in estimating, material takeoffs, and preconstruction planning
Attend progress meetings and coordinate communication between crews, third-party reviewers, and clients
Track project milestones and support reporting, change documentation, and closeout efforts
Begin to engage with budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling workflows as part of broader project learning
Ideal Candidate Profile:
3–5 years of experience in site-based construction, preferably involving complex earthwork or structural systems
Prior experience in a field engineering or site coordination role
Strong communicator comfortable working with field personnel, clients, and design professionals
Familiarity with construction activity in the DC Metro Area is a plus
Highly organized and proactive with a focus on safety and quality
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
Relevant academic or practical background in soils, structures, and construction field methods
EIT certification preferred or in progress
Willingness and ability to travel to job sites across the region (approx. 50%)
Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with construction design or scheduling software is a plus
Strong teamwork, documentation, and field troubleshooting skills
