Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Project Estimator located in the Greater Pittsburgh Region. The Project Estimator will be responsible for estimating project costs, managing budgets, preparing detailed bid proposals, and collaborating with project teams to ensure accurate and competitive project estimates. Daily tasks include conducting site visits, analyzing project documentation, and communicating with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing and cost information. Management and consistent updating of supplier/subcontractor and manufacturers lists.
Key Responsibilities:
Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop cost estimates.
Perform material takeoffs and quantity surveys for all scopes of work.
Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers; evaluate and compare bids.
Develop detailed estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather project-specific information.
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and clients to ensure estimates align with project requirements and timelines.
Assist in preparing proposals, bid packages, and client presentations.
Maintain and update a database of historical cost data for future use.
Track estimate performance and assist in post-bid reviews
Prebid in depth evaluation of project specific bid requirements with regards to wage requirements, B& O taxes, permitting requirements, MBE /DBE/WBE participation levels, qualification requirements, permitting, front end general conditions & general requirements, licensing, third party testing and monitoring, scheduling, taxing, and more.
Qualifications
5 years minimum experience in Cost Management, Budgeting, and Construction Estimating
Expertise in Project Estimation and preparing detailed bid proposals
Effective communication skills for collaborating with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
Mindfulness and the ability to conduct thorough site visits and document analysis
Proficiency with estimation software and tools
Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
