Construction Project Manager
Sarasota County is the premier community where people choose to live, work, and play! Capital Projects has a robust work program for roadway and stormwater infrastructure improvements throughout Sarasota County. Projects included in the program are bridge rehabilitation and/or new construction, roadway widening and/or new construction, intersection improvements, stormwater quality improvements, and Countywide resurfacing contracts. Candidates with strong written and verbal communication skills who can effectively convey technical information to non-technical individuals, and who are proficient in Microsoft Office, and have working knowledge of the Florida Department of Transportation Standard Specifications and Standard Plans are highly encouraged to apply.
As a Construction Project Manager, you will work under the general direction of the Construction Manager and be responsible for all aspects of the management and oversight of assigned construction contracts. The projects assigned vary in complexity such as small stormwater ponds and neighborhood sidewalks, to intersection improvements which may consist of roundabouts or advance traffic management systems, to major construction/reconstruction of bridges and roadways. Complexity of project assignment(s) will align with responsibilities of a Project Manager tier level I, II, or III.
General Responsibilities include:
- Contract administration and oversight of contractor operations.
- Conduct frequent field reviews to observe construction operations, temporary traffic control, erosion and sediment controls, and meet with contractors or residents.
- Conduct preconstruction, progress and pre-activity meetings.
- Prepare general correspondence, meeting minutes, agenda, etc.
- Review for compliance and accuracy the construction schedule, daily reports of construction, test reports and material submittals and permit requirements.
- Make recommendations for resolution of project related issues.
- Review and tabulate quantities for the monthly cut-off meeting.
- Provide utility coordination.
- Provide claim negotiation.
- Provide contract status reports for internal stakeholders and public consumption.
- Provide support/mentoring to lower tier project managers.
- Participate and/or lead in the Professional Solicitation Review Committee (PSRC), for the selection of Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) firms who provide contract administration and oversight services on highly complex projects.
- Participate and/or lead in negotiations for CEI contract scope, budget, and schedule with selected firm.
- Monitor the CEI performance, burn rate and monthly request for payment.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
About You
To thrive in the Project Manager I role, you must have:
- BS degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field
- Project experience can substitute for education on a year for year basis depending on the type of experience.
- Valid Florida driver's license
Starting Pay Range: $55,577.60 - $75,025.60 based on your experience
To thrive in the Project Manager II role, you must have:
- BS degree in Engineering, Project Management or related field and a minimum of 3 years related CIP experience.
- Master's degree may substitute for 1 year of required experience.
- Project experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis depending on the type of experience.
- Valid Florida driver's license
Starting Pay Range: $61,131.20 - $82,534.40 based on your experience
To thrive in the Project Manager III role, you must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field and a minimum of 5 years of related CIP experience
- Master's degree can substitute for 1 year of required experience.
- Project experience can substitute for education on a year for year basis depending on the type of experience.
- Valid Florida driver's license
Starting Pay Range: $71,000.00- $90,792.00 based on your experience
