Job Duties:
Plan, direct, or coordinate, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.
Participation and application of DPR's Environmental Health and Safety Plan to constantly maintain injury-free environments including performing weekly safety audits. Understanding and enforcement of contracts, including between DPR and subcontractors as well as DPR and the owner. Assist the superintendent and project manager in the implementation of DPR policies and the execution of the project. Organizing the duties of other engineers, field office coordinator, project accountant and other assigned project staff. This includes providing direction, prioritization, and performance feedback. Participation in trainings and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth. Organizing and electronically archiving project files for easy access by the project team. Preparation, monitoring, and updating project schedules. Working with the superintendent to reduce project constraints' impact on the schedule. Preparation, maintenance, and implementation of various document control entities such as daily reports, material procurement logs, submittal logs, as-builts, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs. Distribution of new drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other project information to all affected parties. Identifying, assembling, negotiating, and distributing change orders to both the owner and subcontractors. Preparing agendas, documents, meeting minutes, and actions for various meetings including owner/architect/contractor meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, safety meetings, and staff meetings. Participating in project cost control. This includes maintaining internal records and working with subcontractors to make sure changes are getting paid. Preparing owner billing by assembling DPR costs, receiving and reviewing subcontractor invoices and organizing the documents in accordance with the owner's requirements. Monitoring testing and inspection record and reports, safety inspection and accident logs and reports, record building permit inspections and sign-offs.
Minimum education/experience requirements: Master's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a construction/engineering-related occupation.
Skill Requirements:
Position requires at least 3 years of experience in each of the following skills:
- Manage the Cost Control process by managing changes in the scope of work, preparing Monthly Status Reports, Financial, and Project health reports using Primavera, and Procore to generate anticipated financial returns for the company.
- Assist the project team with contracting sub-contractors for e.g. buyouts, drafting scopes, and contracting trade partners to cover maximum scopes to prevent unforeseen financial impacts.
- Provide procurement management of all materials arriving onsite. This includes Managing Material/Equipment Procurement logs to satisfy just-in-time delivery using MS Project and scheduling software (Primavera P6) for efficient site logistics and cash flow management in accordance with the project schedule.
- Manage the Document control process for the project including project specifications, RFI submittals, and drawing management using Procure, Primavera, MS Project to enable timely and accurate delivery of updated information. Ensure that all contracted subcontractors have the most up-to-date information while building the project in order to ensure proper coordination.
- Coordinate with the project team to develop and update the project schedule using MS Project, Primavera P6. scheduling software. Identify critical activities, and potential cost and time impacts and propose possible resolutions through resequencing activities, modifying manpower, and working hours.
- Organize and run coordination meetings with the owner, architects, design consultants, and subcontractors to communicate issues and collaboratively resolve items and document thoroughly for follow-up action. Provide meeting minutes to all parties involved for clear roles and responsibilities for action items.
- Draft monthly owner Bill with Project Accountant to ensure timely payment of contractors, trade partners, and their vendors. Review and approve material and sub-contractor invoices based on progress using Tally ERP software. Create and implement quality control plan for the job site. Educate and train sub-contractor personnel to use quality control plan software. Manage and create workflows for identifying, resolving & closing out any quality control issues that arise during the construction process.
- Coordinate with superintendents to resolve field constraints by conducting meetings and running clash detection in Navisworks to have minimal constructability issues during field execution.
- Review safety documents and arrange Environmental, health, and safety (EHS) kickoffs with subcontractors. Use Procore to Perform safety inspections, verify required certifications, licenses.
