We build and manage projects for our family's network of hospitals and freestanding emergency rooms, focusing on efficiency and quality. We are expanding our team and seeking a motivated Project Manager who can support our rapid growth and learn our specialized processes.
Job Summary: We are seeking a Project Manager with strong experience in commercial construction who is eager to adapt their skills to the unique environment of healthcare facility projects in Texas. This role requires a balance of hands-on field presence and essential clerical "back-of-house" responsibilities . The ideal candidate will have a solid foundational understanding of construction project management and the right attitude to be molded into a highly effective healthcare construction specialist within our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Support: Assist in managing various phases of healthcare construction and renovation projects, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and budgets.
On-Site Presence: Spend a significant portion of time in the field, monitoring progress, coordinating with trades, and ensuring adherence to construction plans.
"Back-of-House" Management: Handle crucial administrative and organizational tasks, including:
Managing and updating project drawings and documentation.
Developing and maintaining detailed project schedules.
Coordinating material ordering and logistics.
Maintaining essential project paper trails and records.
Facilitating communication between architects, engineers, subcontractors, and our internal team.
Problem-Solving & Collaboration: Work closely with our experienced architects, engineers, and construction leads (including our current Project Manager, Sean) to identify and resolve issues, ensuring projects move forward smoothly. Our internal team provides guidance on healthcare-specific codes and regulations.
Project Environment: Manage construction activities in or adjacent to active, 24/7 operating medical facilities (e.g., busy emergency rooms), understanding the need for minimal disruption to operations.
Project Locations: Contribute to projects across Texas, including an ongoing expansion in Northeast Texas (Longview), an upcoming renovation and expansion in Tyler, and a new specialty hospital build in Lake Jackson.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Project Manager in commercial construction .
Familiarity with standard construction management software, scheduling tools (e.g., Gantt charts), and general project documentation.
Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, particularly with paperwork and record-keeping.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
A positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn the specifics of healthcare construction compliance and operations in Texas.
Ability to travel and work on various job sites across the state of Texas as needed.
A degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field is highly valued.
Experience with medical facility construction is a significant plus, but not strictly required.
Knowledge of Texas healthcare construction codes (DSHS, FGI, NFPA 101) is a plus, but training will be provided.
