Project Manager - Custom Home Construction

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Project Manager with experience in custom home construction to lead day-to-day operations across all phases of high-end residential projects—from preconstruction through final close-out. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-construction & Planning
Lead preconstruction meetings with clients, design teams, and consultants
Review and coordinate architectural, engineering, and design documents
Develop and maintain construction schedules, budgets, and work scopes
Assist in subcontractor bidding, negotiation, and buyout process
Construction Oversight
Manage and supervise daily site operations and construction team (superintendents, subcontractors, vendors)
Monitor quality control, site safety, and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes
Coordinate inspections, permitting, utility connections, and third-party testing
Track project milestones and proactively identify delays or issues
Budget & Cost Control
Manage and forecast project budgets, approve invoices and change orders
Work closely with accounting and procurement to ensure timely payments and delivery of materials
Maintain and update cost reports, logs, and tracking documents
Client & Consultant Communication
Serve as primary point of contact for homeowners, architects, designers, and consultants
Provide regular progress updates and host on-site walkthroughs with clients
Resolve conflicts or design clarifications with a solutions-first mindset
Project Close-Out
Ensure completion of punch list, final inspections, and delivery of warranty manuals
Coordinate final clean, staging (if applicable), and handover to client
Review subcontractor performance and lessons learned for continuous improvement
Qualifications:
5+ years of residential construction experience with a focus on custom homes (single-family, luxury, or estate homes)
Proven track record of managing full-cycle projects from preconstruction through close-out
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, building codes, and inspections
Proficient in project management software (Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project, or similar)
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience
OSHA 30 Certification and valid driver’s license required
