Purchasing Manager - Construction - Base Salary to 95k/year - Jacksonville, FL Our client is searching for a Purchasing Manager within the Construction industry to oversee and manage the procurement process for their team in Orange Park, Fl. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for acquiring construction materials, equipment, and subcontractors necessary as well as managing vendor relationships, negotiating prices, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and maintaining an organized inventory system to support project timelines and budgets.
Responsibilities: Develop and implement the procurement strategy to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Analyze project requirements and collaborate with project managers to forecast material and supply needs.
Monitor market trends and make recommendations for alternative materials or suppliers to optimize costs.
Source and evaluate suppliers, ensuring they meet quality standards and project requirements.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure the best value for the company.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring reliability and consistency in delivery.
Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and resolve any issues that arise.
Oversee the purchasing process, ensuring the timely ordering and delivery of materials and equipment to meet project timelines.
Manage inventory levels to avoid overstocking or shortages and track usage to ensure proper allocation of resources.
Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure efficient material storage and distribution.
Monitor and manage procurement budgets for materials, supplies, and subcontractors.
Track and report on cost-saving initiatives and ensure that procurement activities are aligned with financial targets.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or project requirements.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards related to procurement.
Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and invoices.
Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management regarding procurement activities, costs, and project progress.
Lead and mentor a team of purchasing staff, providing guidance and ensuring the efficient operation of the procurement department.
Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and other departments to ensure that procurement activities align with overall project goals.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to support project planning and resolve procurement-related issues.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing in the construction industry. Bachelor’ s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field, required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Sage 300 CRE.
Experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and cost control.
Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and inventory control.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with a focus on attention to detail.
Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and industry standards is highly desirable.
Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or similar are advantageous.
Compensation: Base salary in the 90k - 95k/year range
