FIELD SUPERVISOR
REMEDIAL CONSTRUCTION
JOB SUMMARY
The Field Supervisor oversees field management within the Remedial Construction Service Area , ensuring compliance with safety protocols, effective execution of project objectives, and supervision of Field Technicians and Heavy Equipment Operators. This position reports directly to the Principal of Remedial Construction and plays a crucial role in maintaining operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Oversee and manage field personnel, ensuring efficient coordination, compliance with safety protocols, and effective execution of project tasks
Complete health and safety reporting for all incidents and ensure compliance with OSHA standards
Assist in selecting and managing vendors, ensuring cost-effective solutions and compliance with project requirements
Oversee vehicle fleet maintenance, ensuring operational readiness and shop functionality
Train staff in equipment operation, site safety, and maintenance best practices
Oversee truck loading and job preparation activities to support field operations
Schedule and manage routine fleet maintenance, ensuring operational readiness
Conduct inspections and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles, addressing deficiencies as needed
Maintain an accurate sign-out/sign-in log for equipment, tools, and vehicles to track usage
Ensure shop operations comply with established health and safety policies
Enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for all personnel working in the shop
Support bid and proposal opportunities, including site visits and production estimates
Approve and manage vendor invoices for temporary field personnel, ensuring accuracy in billing and compliance with hiring agreements
Supervise onboarding, training, and mentoring of Field Technicians and Heavy Equipment Operators
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Recommended Experience: Minimum of 5 years of construction experience, 5 years of supervisor experience, and 3 years of environmental remediation experience. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Expertise in remedial construction techniques, including UST closures, treatment system installations, soil mixing, and demolition
Knowledge of OSHA construction standards and ability to interpret regulations
Ability to read utility markings, manage site controls, and oversee excavation and grading
Proficiency in blueprint reading, elevation control, and rigging techniques
Experience in welding, heavy equipment operation, subcontractor management, and cost-efficient resource procurement
Strong communication and professional writing skills
Leadership skills for mentoring field personnel and identifying future leader
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Travel up to 100% and work 8+ hours per day, up to 6 days a week in various outdoor conditions
Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined space
JOB CONTEXT
100% field/site visit travel (environmental job hazards)
This classification requires travel to various client locations. Travel typically involves day trips within the state or neighboring states, resulting in longer workdays; and may include extended and/or further travel, resulting in multiple days and overnights. Long-distance travel and air travel may be required. Shift work and holiday work may be required on an as needed and sometimes on an ongoing basis.
