Job Summary
The Senior Application and Systems Administrator - Construction Materials/Ready-Mix Operations is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of mission-critical applications and systems that enable ready-mix production, dispatch, and logistics. This role ensures high availability, performance, and reliability of systems such as batching software, dispatch platforms, mobile ticketing, and ERP integrations. Working closely with operations, vendors, and IT leadership, the position plays a key role in system upgrades, troubleshooting, user support, and process optimization to align technology with business objectives.
Essential Functions
- System Administration
- Administer, maintain, and support core ready-mix applications (e.g., batching, dispatch, GPS tracking, mobile ticketing systems).
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and system configurations to ensure secure and efficient access.
- Application Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for end users and operational teams.
- Investigate and resolve application and system issues in a timely manner, coordinating with vendors when needed.
- System Integration & Data Management
- Oversee data flows and integrations between production systems, ERP platforms, and other business-critical applications.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity across systems.
- Upgrades & Patch Management
- Plan and execute system updates, patches, and application upgrades with minimal disruption to operations.
- Vendor Coordination
- Work closely with software and hardware vendors for support, updates, testing, and new feature implementations.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to support high system availability and performance.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, and ensure compliance with IT policies and industry regulations.
- Project Participation & Implementation
- Collaborate on IT and business projects involving system deployments, enhancements, or process improvements.
- Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
- Support backup and recovery strategies; assist in disaster recovery planning and testing for mission-critical systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with plant operations, logistics, and other departments to align IT systems with business needs and ensure seamless daily operations.

Required Skills & Experience
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in IT systems or application administration, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Experience in the ready-mix, construction, manufacturing, or logistics industries is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with system and application administration in Windows and/or Linux environments.
- Proficiency with ready-mix or construction-related software (e.g., Command Alkon, Sysdyne, Motive, Fleet Intelligence, Quadrell, etc.) or similar industrial/operations platforms.
- Knowledge of database management and SQL (basic queries, troubleshooting, integration).
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Viewpoint) and how they integrate with operational systems.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls).
- Experience with backup/recovery tools and disaster recovery planning.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, or similar) a plus.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) is a plus.

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong documentation and process adherence skills.
Certifications (Preferred)
- CompTIA Network+ or Security+
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent
- ITIL Foundation Certification
- Cisco CCNA
Travel Requirements
25-50% Texas regional travel (South Texas)
