DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of the Civil Construction and ROW Manager, the Senior Civil Construction Inspector will be responsible for the inspection of public improvement construction including streets, water, sewer, sidewalks, and drainage for compliance with local, state, and federal code, regulations, and specifications. The position is responsible for inspecting and policing construction activities within all city rights-of-way and the inspection of certain private improvements. The incumbent will train, instruct new inspectors and serve as the key lead in the field and office.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES


TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

High school or GED, plus 5 years of public works construction inspection experience, two (2) years of which is in a lead or supervisory role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector Certification (CPII) and water and wastewater licensing or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment or promotion.
Must have a valid Class "C" driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
Basic: Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing is required.

Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, driver's license/cdl, etc.)

Must be able to work overtime as required.
Work is performed in office and construction site environments.
May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry and vision to monitor.
May be subject to walking over rough terrain, bending, reaching, kneeling, or climbing ladders into trenches or up on roofs when inspecting construction and land development sites.
May be subject to exposure to extreme weather conditions, hazardous materials, chemicals and fumes, heavy construction equipment, confined spaces, heights, and air and water borne pathogens.
Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds.
