Their core competencies include site preparation, utility installation, heavy civil work, and paving across commercial, industrial, and institutional markets.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include:

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for private civil construction projects ranging from $1M to $50M+
• Interpret civil drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports to develop detailed takeoffs and cost proposals
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors during pre-construction
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for cost, scope, and compliance
• Participate in bid reviews and hand-off meetings with operations teams
• Maintain and update a historical cost database and pricing library

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate:

• Has a minimum of 5-10 years of estimating experience in civil construction, with strong knowledge of site work, underground utilities, paving, and earth moving
• Has a proven track record preparing bids for private-sector projects (commercial, industrial, institutional)
• Is proficient in estimating software (such as HCSS, HeavyBid, or similar tools)
• Has a strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Has excellent communication skills and a collaborative work style
• Has a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
