Role and Responsibilities

The job duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Participate in monthly meetings with project managers and assist in updating PM cost projections to produce accurate monthly Work in Progress adjustments.
  • Monitor project expenses, track variances, make job cost adjustments/transfers, and provide regular financial updates to project teams and management.
  • Collaborate with project managers and leadership team to understand project requirements and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist project accounting team with the maintenance of accurate project records.
  • Assist project accounting team with issues related to monthly billing, ensuring accuracy and completeness of submissions to clients.
  • Assist project accounting team in following up on outstanding payments and resolving any billing disputes for project related work.
  • Review project schedule at least monthly to identify potential jobs for closing; monitor and assist with job closings.
  • Conduct regular analysis of project financial performance, identifying trends and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with project accounting team and Controller to prepare annual audit contract confirmations.
  • Prepare journal entries, adjustments, general ledger reconciliations, expense allocation entries and other month-end/year-end closing activities.
  • Assist with annual external financial audit including initial audit preparation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting regulations, and financial controls.
  • Prepare financial analysis, such as financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, changes in accounting standards, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to the accounting team, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree – Accounting, Finance, or similar area of study preferred.
  • 2-3 years of Public Accounting experience preferred.
  • General Ledger Accounting experience including general journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Construction Accounting experience, with a firm grasp of WIP, is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
  • Experience working with financial software and ERP systems, Viewpoint Vista and QuickBooks preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent time management skills, coupled with ability to prioritize duties.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify and implement process enhancements.
  • Physical Demands: Constant sitting, walking short distances, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching above and/or below shoulder, handling/grasping documents or office equipment, clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person and/or on the telephone, vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data, repetitive motions for computer equipment use, lift 25 lbs. occasionally, 5-10 lbs. frequently to lift/carry/move objects, files and documents.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.

Work Environment: Work is performed in an office environment with air conditioning and bright lights.
