Senior Director - Planning, Design, and Construction
This position is primarily responsible for the operational and strategic effectiveness of the teams and processes used for design and construction projects including new facilities, additions, and renovations.
Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required: Master's degree and five (5) years of operational leadership experience
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration Required: US Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong business acumen and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of individuals and functional areas. Skill in the use of computers and relevant software programs (e.g., Microsoft Excel). Ability to analyze and interpret complex data. Demonstrated experience with contracts and budget management. Requires strong organizational skills and a high degree of motivation and interest in serving the needs of the organization. Strong demonstrated capabilities in planning, budgeting, financing, and management required. Exceptional communication skills, including written and verbal. Experience in personnel management for motivation, quality assurance, and professional conduct.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs, and coordinates Planning, Design, and Construction operations, including overall oversight of multiple high-visibility and high complexity design and construction projects across multiple locations.
- Provides executive oversight of construction projects and scope. Works with leadership to identify project objectives and establish project parameters, budgets, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Collaborates with finance leadership to prepare and administer an annual budget; monitors expenditures, and assures adherence to established budgetary guidelines. Maximizes utilization of space and resources.
- Develops and implements short and long-range goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness; and implements improvements as required. Reports progress to organizational leaders.
- Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing model to accomplish goals and objectives; supervises employees to include work allocation, training, evaluation, and problem resolution.
- Provides executive management and facilitation of master planning in support of the goals of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in conjunction with the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
- Manages, monitors, and facilitates architectural, engineering, and construction contracts.
- Effectively represents University of Mississippi Medical Center in the community, professional organizations, and other relevant forums.
- Maintains knowledge of computer software to aid in the design and implementation of projects.
