Senior Electrical Project Manager Data Center Construction
Turner & Townsend is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Manager to support a high-profile data center construction project in the San Jose area. This individual will be responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex electrical scopes, including substation and power distribution systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and a background in large-scale data center or electrical contracting environments.
This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week onsite in San Jose, CA.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage all phases of electrical construction, from preconstruction through commissioning.
- Oversee design coordination, procurement, installation, and closeout of electrical systems.
- Ensure alignment with project goals, client expectations, and quality standards.
- Manage and mentor engineers, designers, and field personnel.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Maintain clear communication with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop and manage project budgets and schedules.
- Track expenditures and ensure adherence to financial and timeline targets.
- Provide subject matter expertise in electrical systems, including substations, transformers, and power distribution.
- Ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and industry standards.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all electrical work meets quality and safety standards.
- Oversee subcontractor and vendor contracts.
- Manage forecasting, cost tracking, and profitability.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of electrical project management experience, ideally in data center construction or with an electrical contractor.
- Experience with substation and power distribution systems preferred.
- Familiarity with MEP design and interest in transitioning to an owner's representative role is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools and BIM software.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and construction methodologies.
The salary range for this full-time role is $140K-$160K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate's experience and qualifications.
