The Senior Estimator leads preconstruction efforts on various projects in collaboration with the project team. This position is responsible for overall client satisfaction throughout the preconstruction process.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Leads the preconstruction phase, aligning expectations and resources with the project management team.
- Collaborates with clients to understand project vision, requirements, and priorities.
- Develops preconstruction schedules, site logistics plans, and project-specific scopes of work.
- Guides the team, clients, and designers through entitlement and permitting processes.
- Evaluates constructability, identifies risks, and recommends value engineering opportunities.
- Prepares and updates cost estimates at key milestones, leveraging historical data and market insights.
- Manages subcontractor outreach, bid solicitation, and relationship-building to ensure strong coverage.
- Maintains positive relationships with clients, consultants, trade partners, municipal agencies, and community stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree specializing in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required, with necessary industry experience.
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the Commercial Construction Industry in an estimating position.
Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel functions, and uses internet research tools effectively.
- Is proficient with project management software and applies working knowledge of project management principles and strategies.
- Applies strong knowledge of construction principles and trade requirements, with superior plan reading skills.
- Uses on-screen digital estimating tools to complete accurate, detailed take-offs efficiently.
- Conceptualizes work sequencing and site logistics from project plans and identifies critical paths when needed.
- Communicates clearly and tactfully in both oral and written form, and builds positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Maintains an approachable, empathetic, and results-driven interpersonal style.
