HR Consulting Solutions, LLC is a national executive search firm that has been retained by Youngblood Excavating & Contracting to conduct a search for a Senior Project Manager to work alongside their growing team in Western KY.

The Project Management Teams within this successful organization creates and analyzes critical path schedules, cultivates relationships with inspectors, coordinates engineers and subcontractors, tracks budgets, maintains job-site safety, oversees quality control, and adjusts resources to the ever-changing dynamics of a job. Whatever the customer’s need may be, they have a proven management structure to provide the experience and expertise necessary to make their project a success.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a family-owned business, Youngblood Excavating & Contracting is known for their extensive footprint in the commercial and heavy civil project sector in Western Kentucky. The Senior Project Manager plans and supervises diverse scopes of work, most of which are completed via in-house crews through self-performed operations as well as by utilizing subcontractors. The majority of disciplines covered by the organization include wet utilities, site work, reinforced concrete, and PEMB for Governmental, Municipal, Industrial and Private entities. The incumbent will organize and oversee construction projects ranging from $200k to $10M and must ensure they are completed timely, within budget, and in a safe and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with the Vice President and other members of senior management to help formulate and execute internal policies and procedures.
  • Performs job bidding and project estimating tasks, managing all elements with regard to creating customer quotes and preparing cost estimates.
  • Reviews the planning, budgeting, and implementation of projects.
  • Analyzes performance, costs, and operations to maintain progress toward the achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Verifies permits and licenses from appropriate authorities have been obtained.
  • Coordinates with the Superintendent to plan and place needed resources (i.e., manpower, equipment, and materials) from project beginning to completion.
  • Schedules timeline to ensure milestones and project completion dates are met.
  • Manages all subcontractor contracts and schedules according to project timelines
  • Directs and supervises the work of superintendents, foreman etc. to establish operational priorities and maintain satisfactory relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains customer relationships to enhance the company’s ability to procure projects, reduce risk, and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Handles critical decision-making and delivers routine updates to the upper management regarding the company’s performance.
  • Evaluates progress of projects and prepares detailed reports to submit to upper management.
  • Attends project progress meetings and communicates with others as appropriate.
  • Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proven track record of $200K - $7M single job performance.
  • 10+ years’ experience in heavy civil construction, with a proven track record of managing teams and large-scale projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of project management principles in Municipal, Governmental, Industrial, and private sectors.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret drawings, use laser levels, calculate grades, and compute ratios and percentages as needed.
  • Thorough understanding of construction codes, working knowledge of all trades and OSHA safety requirements, and familiarity with DOT standards and protocols.
  • Advanced knowledge of all phases of concrete construction including installation of rebar, concrete placement, formwork systems, and layout.
  • Proven ability to make decisions and follow through on commitments while successfully managing multiple tasks of varying degrees of scope and complexity.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction accounting, and the ability to read and analyze financial statements such as the P&L’s.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with a successful track record of leading and developing teams.
  • Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively work with all levels of the organization, as well as customers and subcontractors.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook), CAD readers, specialty construction management and scheduling software.
  • Willingness to travel to oversee projects and meet with clients.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related degree.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation strongly favored.
  • OSHA 10 hour or OSHA 30 hour for Construction training desired.
  • Fluent in English. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
