Solar Construction Manager
The Construction Manager plays a key role in overseeing field operations for large-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. This position is responsible for coordinating daily site activities, managing subcontractors, and ensuring that construction progresses safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project goals. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced, field-based environment. Travel to project sites across the U.S. is required.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities, ensuring work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel, facilitating communication and resolving issues as they arise.
- Monitor daily progress, enforce safety protocols, and ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Support project planning by contributing to schedule development, resource allocation, and logistics coordination.
- Conduct regular site inspections and meetings to track progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to maintain alignment across all phases of construction.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including daily reports, safety logs, and quality control records.
Essential Skills:
- 5+ years of experience managing field operations on utility-scale solar or energy storage projects.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics, and subcontractor coordination.
- Proficient in interpreting construction drawings, schedules, and specifications.
- Familiarity with project management tools and reporting systems (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam).
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and maintain productivity, safety, and quality standards.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced field environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Solar construction experience.
- Construction management skills.
Work Environment:
This role is performed in a field environment and requires travel throughout the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions supporting green energy projects. Physical labor may be required, including sitting, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms. Workplace Type: This is a hybrid position in Raleigh, NC.
