We are hiring several Senior Construction Inspector II's, open to travel to CFL/FHWA highway and bridge rehab projects in 14 states.
Travel will be to multiple states in remote areas near National Parks & U.S. Forest areas. These are ongoing projects for the next 5 years and will require experience working in DOT/Transportation/Federal Highways and bridges. You may select your area of travel and/or states to work in or be open to all of them.

Job Requirements Duties of Senior Construction Inspector II are as follows:
May function for or as the Assistant RE in the absence of the Construction PM or RE on a temporary basis.
Performs duties of Construction Inspector I when required.
Assists the Construction Manager or PM
Administration of the FHWA construction contract.
Enforces established construction and materials specifications.
Assists with the inspection of all phases of work and construction contract
Compliance.
Document daily the work by the Construction Contractor and subcontractors.
Monitor construction operations for compliance with contract provisions,
drawings, and specifications.
Identifies changes, errors, or field adjustments to the contract documents
and recommends action to the PE or Project Manager,
Monitors Construction Contractor’s quality control operations for contract
Compliance.
Performs materials inspections.
Monitors construction compliance for contractor traffic control and safety plan for contract and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
Reports safety and health deficiencies to the Construction Contractor, and
PE or PM.
Monitors work for compliance with environmental and erosion control
Requirements.
Reports inspection and administration performance of other CMS construction inspectors.
Trains on-site personnel as required in the performance of inspection and
testing responsibilities.
Prepares daily construction inspection reports.
Performs off-site plant fabrication or material source inspection or
certification as assigned.
Proficient with computer software programs including Microsoft Word,
Outlook, and Excel.
Prepares contract modifications; develop independent cost estimates.
reviews Construction Contractor progress payments for accuracy, obtains
field measurements of construction materials and products, reviews and
assists the RE in preparing contract claim responses, documents project
progress (including videography and photography); develops special reports
and review contract submittals including shop drawings for compliance with
the contract.
Monitors Contractor’s construction schedule and advising RE of corrective action
The minimum qualifications of a CI-II Construction Inspector are as follows:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or professional engineer registration or an associate degree in Engineering Technology with 10 years highway construction .
Ten years of highway construction experience as a Project or Resident
Engineer, Assistant Project Engineer, Chief Inspector, or equivalent on State
or Federal highway or bridge construction projects.
Provide documented proficiency performing highway construction
inspection services on the following:
Hot asphalt concrete paving
Concrete structures
Aggregate base course
Drainage culverts
Retaining walls; earthwork; rock excavation; foundation piles; soil nails
Guardrail
Project re-vegetation
Traffic control systems; and
Soil erosion and sediment controls.
Possess good communication skills, both verbally and written.
Possess good mathematical skills.
Possess good proficiency with CPM construction schedules.
Experience in on-site CI services in environmentally sensitive areas such as
National Forest, Fish and Wildlife Refuges, and National Parks.
Knowledge of general design principles; safety and labor laws and
requirements; quality control-quality assurance principles.
Proficiency in administering and interpreting transportation contracts,
specifications, and plans.
