Sr. Federal Construction Estimator

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Federal Construction Estimator to lead the preparation of cost estimates and proposals for federal construction projects. This role requires deep knowledge of federal procurement processes, FAR regulations, takeoffs, sub searches, and experience with a variety of project delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of detailed cost estimates for federal construction projects.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather pricing and scope information.
- Prepare and review quantity take-offs, cost summaries, and bid packages.
- Ensure compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS) and agency-specific requirements (e.g., USACE, NAVFAC, GSA).
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and proposal strategy sessions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Assist in value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Maintain historical cost data and benchmarking tools.
- Mentor junior estimators and support staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5-10 years of federal construction estimating experience.
- Strong knowledge of federal procurement processes and contract types (IDIQ, MATOC, SATOC, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Active security clearance or ability to obtain one is a plus.
- LEED, DBIA, or PMP certification is a plus.
