We are seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector who will utilize their keen observational skills to oversee construction projects, ensuring they adhere to approved codes, plans, and specifications. In this position, you will inspect all stages of transportation construction projects. Your responsibilities will include verifying grades, elevations, and the layout of structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. You will also inspect the installation of various materials, including cement concrete, bituminous concrete, and drainage components.

Additionally, you will conduct compaction testing using visual non-movement methods on sub-surface strata, soils, and aggregates. This role requires interaction with Department personnel, as well as federal, state, and local agencies, legislators, and the public to facilitate effective project management. You will be tasked with completing master diary entries, performing mathematical calculations, estimating item quantities and project costs, and managing work orders and time extensions, all while ensuring thorough documentation is maintained. Furthermore, you will assist in addressing any field issues that arise during the project.

Full-time employment, work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will not have the option to telework in this position. Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or one year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or one year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
