Individual contributor responsible for the overall management, business development, analysis, and monitoring of a highly complex book of business. Recognized as a technical expert in an underwriting specialty. Working within broad limits of authority on assignments requiring a high degree of technical complexity and coordination. May have regional, industry segment, or company-wide scope. Open to qualified candidates sitting in the Northeast. Job Description Essential Duties & Responsibilities Performs duties in accordance with departmental guidelines, including: Working on highly complex underwriting risks employing diagnostic and systematic analysis to assess acceptability. Developing specialized endorsement language for highly complex risks. Determining appropriate pricing of complex risks based on financial and competitive analysis, with minimal oversight. Making recommendations on underwriting policy and pricing strategy. Analyzing the quality, quantity, and profitability of underwritten risks and presenting reports. Marketing products and services through agencies or brokerage, including field visits. Developing and maintaining relationships with large producers within the assigned territory. Staying current on industry issues, regulations, and trends, possibly participating in trade groups. Mentoring less experienced underwriters and assisting in training development. Utilizing advanced system functionalities for daily activities. Handling special underwriting projects and presentations. Reporting to a Manager or above. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Advanced technical expertise and underwriting skills, with high knowledge of insurance principles. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple projects. Ability to handle ambiguous situations and resolve unique challenges. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and related software. Demonstrated leadership abilities. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent; professional designations preferred.
