We are seeking an accomplished Vice President of Construction to provide strategic leadership and operational excellence for a team of high-performing project managers and support staff. Key Responsibilities
Provide visionary leadership to Project Executives, Project Managers, and Support Staff to achieve business goals and build a high-performance team culture.
Drive profitable growth by actively monitoring the project pipeline, backlog, revenue, and gross profit. Lead corrective actions to stay on track with financial goals.
Host weekly meetings to review project performance, financial updates, and key strategic initiatives.
Oversee the development of detailed project budgets, schedules, and look-ahead forecasts to ensure proactive project execution.
Conduct regular coaching and performance reviews to support the growth and development of direct reports.
Maintain strong client relationships and ensure projects meet or exceed expectations in quality, schedule, and value.
Champion departmental and business development goals while aligning efforts with overall company strategy.
Implement and uphold best practices in project cost control, schedule adherence, and resource planning.
Ensure accurate, timely job cost projections and project financial reporting.
Lead internal project kickoff meetings and coordinate resource planning across departments.
Support proposal preparation and lead client-facing presentations for strategic opportunities.
Assess and recommend new market opportunities aligned with the company’s long-term vision.
Collaborate with executive leadership on pricing, risk management, and strategy for large-scale projects.
Monitor key performance indicators and promote continuous improvement throughout the organization.
What We’re Looking For
Executive-level leadership experience within the construction or electrical contracting industry.
Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and lead diverse teams with a focus on collaboration and accountability.
Strategic mindset with a strong sense of urgency and a drive for operational and financial excellence.
Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, both internally and with clients.
Well-versed in managing large-scale commercial construction projects with a deep understanding of project lifecycle management.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing demands effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
This position offers a blend of office leadership and on-site project engagement. Candidates must be comfortable with both strategic planning and field-level execution. Regular site visits will be required, and the ability to confidently navigate active construction environments is essential.
Location and Compensation
This position will be based in Northbrook, IL. This is a full-time position that is available for immediate hire. A comprehensive compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate, which will include a base salary, a bonus plan, a car allowance or company vehicle, a 401 (k) with company match, and comprehensive healthcare benefits. The company provides relocation assistance.
