The Civil Virtual Design & Construction Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and precision of Fiore & Sons projects by creating detailed models, analyzing topographical data, collecting field inputs, and delivering essential insights that guide the construction process. This role also involves planning and coordinating with Project Estimators, Project Managers, and other key project stakeholders. TOTAL COMPENSATION $78,900.00 to $113,300.00 annually ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates a broad knowledge and ability to read and interpret civil construction, structural and utility project plans, and specifications. Prepares machine control surfaces and utility pipe-trench models for grade-controlled equipment. Generates custom models as needed. Calculates points for survey layout, including hold-downs and offsets. Keeps updated models loaded in Propeller, Trimble Works Manager, etc., and ensures delivery to survey team. Maintains an updated set of plans with all revisions and clarifications noted. Examines pipe models and as built data for clash detection, utility avoidance plan outputs, and constructability issues. Collaborates with project managers, engineers, architects, surveyors, and operations teams. Prepares survey drawings and descriptions utilizing Trimble Business Center and other related software packages as directed. Prepares survey documents and computations associated with surveys, quantities moved, left to move, shrink/swell, and site-balance quantities. Monitors construction progress and provides timely updates to support project scheduling and decision-making. Protects and maintains equipment and company vehicles in accordance with company policies. Adheres to safety protocols and procedures to promote a safe working environment for self and others on the construction site. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Strong working knowledge of Trimble Business Center, CAD, Agtek, and other similar software. Advanced technical aptitude with the ability to interpret, create, teach, and upload surface design files, plan drawings, surveys, and other construction documents with the ability to provide job cost analysis, project information and related reports. Significant mathematical aptitude with the ability to perform moderate to advanced math equations, quantities, and computations and the ability to understand the project from existing conditions to design and completion. Superior communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers on multiple platforms and at all levels while remaining professional, informative, and supportive. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex problems at a time while tracking progress and reporting regular status updates. Highly organized with significant attention to detail and the ability to effectively work on multiple tasks and projects. Ample knowledge of Trimble, Trimble Business Center and Bluebeam product-line and operation. Extremely self-motivated with the ability to take the lead on assignments as well as follow instructions and work within parameters of excellency established by leadership. Ability to read and interpret data and systems, engineering drawings, contracts, blueprints, and other construction documents. Exceptional problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented mindset, including the ability to think outside the box as well as the ability to learn new processes, procedures, and data quickly. Good safety history and driving record and a willingness to engage and contribute to ongoing safe work practices, such as daily equipment inspections and reporting incidents, as well as strong knowledge of excavation, trenching and shoring safety standards. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Primary functions require the physical ability and mobility to work in an office and stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist to lift, carry or push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight not to exceed 50 pounds. The position requires the operation of office equipment requiring repetitive movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard and to verbally communicate and exchange information. WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential for both indoor and outdoor work, including changing office temperatures, and exposure to variant weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, etc.) and muddy ground conditions.
