Overview:
The Vice President of Telecom Construction is an executive leader responsible for the strategic direction, execution, and performance of all telecom infrastructure construction projects across the organization. This role oversees field operations, ensures alignment with company goals, and drives operational excellence. The VP collaborates closely with senior leadership and cross-functional departments to enable growth, customer success, and innovation at scale. Responsible for the operations of our OSP fiber construction team and oversees our Construction operations, team development, and process optimization.
What You’ll Do:
Strategic Leadership and Organizational Alignment
- Define and lead enterprise-level construction strategies across multiple markets and network technologies
- Align construction operations with company objectives, growth targets, and customer commitments
- Forecast and build infrastructure needs and develop scalable models for future builds and expansions
- Partner with leadership on RFP responses, project pricing, and long-range planning
Executive Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and mentor a distributed team of directors, construction managers, and field personnel
- Build and maintain a high-performance culture that emphasizes safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Oversee recruiting, development, and succession planning efforts across the construction organization
- Promote employee engagement and organizational safety across all levels
Operational Excellence and Program Execution
Manage all phases of construction projects, from planning and design to execution and completion
- Ensure consistent, on-time, and on-budget delivery of all construction projects while upholding quality standards
- Establish and monitor KPIs and operational metrics to assess quality, safety, costs, and performance
- Champion best practices across all aspects of field construction, including aerial and underground methods
Financial Management and Resource Allocation
- Develop and oversee construction budgets, forecasts, and capital planning in alignment with company objectives
- Optimize use of internal and external resources while ensuring cost efficiency
- Lead negotiations with vendors, suppliers, clients and contractors to support cost-effective execution
Risk Management, Safety, and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety standards, and internal policies
- Implement proactive safety programs and conduct regular field audits and inspections
- Manage risk across project timelines, budgets, and operational contingencies
Stakeholder Engagement and Customer Satisfaction
- Serve as a key executive point of contact for key customers, partners, municipalities, and utility providers
- Collaborate with customer-facing teams to ensure timely resolution of construction-related issues
- Integrate customer feedback into operational improvements and service enhancements
Innovation and Technology Adoption
- Stay current on emerging telecom technologies and construction methodologies
- Foster a culture of innovation that continuously improves execution capabilities and competitiveness using company technologies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field to the industry
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in telecom field operations and construction, with at least 5 years in a senior or executive leadership role
- Proven track record of managing multi-region construction programs
- Strong understanding of OSP FTTH telecom infrastructure, deployment and operations - including both underground and aerial construction methods
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial oversight, and organizational leadership
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and executive decision-making skills
- Strong understanding of safety and regulatory compliance requirements
- Experience managing field leadership, teams, subcontractors, and budgets across multiple regions
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience with advanced telecom technologies and innovations, construction scheduling systems
- Advanced degree in a related field
- Experience implementing or scaling digital tools and construction management platforms in construction environments (Vitruvi preferred)
- MS Office 365
- Task Management software experience (Wrike preferred)
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-accountability, growth-stage environment
Work Environment
- On-site in our Corporate Office in Boca Raton, Florida with required travel to field sites and warehouses
