Position Overview: The Senior Vice President of Pre-Construction will lead and scale the pre-construction function for our client’s growing portfolio of natural gas generation projects , particularly those being developed to support data center integration and power reliability. This individual will play a key leadership role, overseeing front-end project planning including technical scope development, cost estimation, scheduling, procurement strategy, and design coordination from initial concept through construction handoff.
Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer , this executive will serve as a critical bridge between development, design, engineering, and construction teams to ensure our projects are executable, cost-effective, and strategically aligned with client and market needs.
Key Responsibilities Lead all pre-construction activities across the portfolio of natural gas generation projects , including engine-based, turbine, or hybrid systems built for resiliency, peaking capacity, or co-location with data centers.
Build and manage a scalable internal and external pre-construction team, including estimators, schedulers, consultants, and design/build partners.
Oversee development of cost estimates, conceptual designs, project schedules, scope packages, bid strategies, and procurement plans.
Partner closely with development and design teams to drive value engineering, technical feasibility, and constructability reviews, especially for power projects integrated with data centers .
Lead early contractor engagement, GMP strategy development, and design-assist processes to proactively mitigate risk.
Serve as the executive-level liaison with internal stakeholders, general contractors, OEMs, EPC firms, and engineering partners during the pre-construction phase.
Standardize and scale pre-construction systems, documentation, and workflows to support rapid growth and repeatable delivery.
Provide executive reporting on cost, risk, and schedule alignment throughout early-stage project development.
Qualifications 15+ years of progressive experience in pre-construction, project development, or construction management with a strong focus on natural gas power generation (reciprocating engines, turbines, microgrids, or similar assets).
Direct experience supporting power generation projects built to serve data centers, large-scale users, or grid-critical loads is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success managing pre-construction for complex, capital-intensive energy or industrial infrastructure projects ($50M+).
Strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems, constructability, scheduling, risk analysis, and cost controls for generation assets.
Proven leadership ability with experience scaling teams, systems, and pre-construction processes.
Executive communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with C-suite stakeholders, clients, and partners.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.

Compensation:
This role offers a highly competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $210,000 – $270,000 , plus performance-based bonus and equity participation .
