**Overview**
UIC Construction is seeking a Warehouse Specialist to support daily warehouse operations. Responsibilities include verifying incoming materials against receiving documents, identifying and reporting any discrepancies or damages, and directing materials to appropriate storage locations. The role involves storing, stacking, or palletizing materials according to UIC warehouse procedures, conducting inventory checks, monitoring the condition of stored items, and reporting any signs of deterioration or damage. The Warehouse Specialist also prepares materials for shipment and performs other duties as assigned.
**Responsibilities**
Essential functions will include:
+ Perform warehouse duties including receiving, storing, stacking, palletizing, and shipping materials in accordance with company procedures.
+ Verify materials against receiving documents and report discrepancies or visible damage.
+ Route materials to designated storage locations using proper warehousing methods.
+ Rearrange inventory, conduct periodic inventory counts, and maintain accurate records.
+ Inspect stored materials regularly and report any deterioration or damage.
+ Remove materials from storage and prepare them for shipment.
+ Operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, or power trucks (e.g., forklift or loader) as needed.
+ Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse.
+ Follow all safety guidelines and comply with OSHA regulations.
+ Provide excellent customer service and interact professionally with coworkers, clients, and vendors.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.
**Qualifications**
Minimum Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Prior experience in warehousing or logistics preferred.
+ Basic math skills required.
+ Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
+ Forklift/loader experience preferred; if required to operate, must pass a Motor Vehicle background check.
+ Good working knowledge of warehousing procedures.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, management, and external vendors.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
+ Must be motivated, dependable, and willing to perform additional tasks as assigned.
+ Must perform work safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Physical and Mental Demands:
+ Regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or manipulate objects, talk and hear, and occasionally smell or taste.
+ Frequently required to stand for extended periods.
+ Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and in various weather conditions.
+ Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
+ Routinely required to stand, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or squat.
+ Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
+ Often required to push, pull, or position parts, assemblies, or equipment with similar exertion.
+ Frequently lifts and moves heavier items with assistance from other workers or lifting devices such as a pallet jack, forklift, or loader.
Working Conditions:
+ Work hours may vary and occasionally fall outside of standard duty hours.
+ Minimal travel may be required.
+ Employee must complete required driver training and comply with all Authorized Driver policies and procedures.
