Position Summary An Automotive Service Technician plays a pivotal role in diagnosing and repairing drivability and electrical systems. This position requires not only technical expertise but also leadership abilities to guide a team in enhancing customer satisfaction. Technicians interact directly with customers, providing exceptional service by educating them about vehicle issues and recommended solutions. Duties & Responsibilities The key responsibilities of this role include: Diagnosing and repairing various vehicle systems including brake and hydraulic, exhaust, ignition, electrical, suspension, alignment, air conditioning, and computer systems to manufacturer specifications. Performing all tasks required of lower-level technicians (such as Technician B, Mechanic, and General Service Technician). Clearly communicating technical diagnoses and repair recommendations to customers and fellow employees without mechanical backgrounds. Continuously upgrading technical skills and knowledge through training to stay current with automotive innovations. Collaborating with other technicians to assist in mechanical tasks. Keeping store management informed of repair issues as they arise. Maintaining a clean and organized work area. Adhering to all company policies, safety guidelines, and environmental regulations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities As a key member of the service team, you will help set the pace of the shop while fostering teamwork. The following qualifications are essential for this position: High School Diploma or GED. 3+ years of substantial experience in automotive mechanical diagnostics, problem-solving, and repairs. Preferred: 4 or more ASE certifications, including A4 Steering and Suspension, A5 Brakes, plus 2 from A1 Engine Repair, A6 Electrical, A7 HVAC, A8 Engine Performance, or L1 Advanced Engine Performance. Section 609 certification required. State Inspection license if applicable. High motivation level, energy, and a strong customer-first mindset. Valid driver's license required. Completion of pre-employment background check. Availability to work flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical Demands/Work Environment This role involves physical activities integral to performing essential functions, with reasonable accommodations possible. Ability to lift, carry, and place items up to 50 pounds without assistance. Frequent standing, walking, and movement during shifts. Reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting are common tasks. Effective communication skills, both in person and through telecommunications. Competence in using computers for documentation and information retrieval. Ability to present information clearly to individuals or groups. Visual acuity for detail-oriented tasks. Safe operation of a motor vehicle. The pay range for this role is $22.00 to $34.06 per hour, based on experience.
