Job Overview:
The Project Manager at RBA Builders LLC plays a vital role in construction operations, overseeing the preparation and supervision of both conceptual and hard bid estimates for competitive and negotiated projects. This individual confidently manages daily challenges and can effectively adapt to shifting priorities, multiple demands, and rapid changes. Resilience in the face of time constraints, adversity, and frustration is crucial while bidding on various projects throughout Southern California.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
The ideal candidate possesses excellent oral and written communication skills, paired with strong listening abilities. They must manage multiple conflicting deadlines, be self-motivated, and capable of setting and achieving goals independently with minimal supervision.


Responsibilities

  • Lead field operations on large-scale construction projects, applying expert knowledge of construction methods and ensuring efficient project delivery.
  • Enforce and uphold industry-standard safety protocols, oversee corrective actions for violations, and maintain comprehensive safety documentation.
  • Develop, maintain, and update Critical Path Method (CPM) schedulesbaseline, lookahead, and recovery plansin alignment with company scheduling policies.
  • Independently produce bid and project schedules when scheduling resources are unavailable.
  • Collaborate with the Estimating Department to shape bid strategy, clarify scope, and prepare bid packages, prebid schedules, and scopes of work.
  • Manage bid efforts autonomously or with support, depending on project complexity.
  • Build and nurture strategic relationships with subcontractors, owners, architects, and stakeholders to secure project opportunities, in partnership with marketing.
  • Craft and present compelling, multidisciplinary RFP responses that reflect company values and vision.
  • Oversee project financials, including billing, change orders, budgeting, cost control, and accurate projections using cost-control systems.
  • Manage project cash flow and oversee payables and receivables throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with construction insurance requirementsbonding, indemnity, policy limitsand interpret related contractual obligations.
  • Administer contract risk management, including interpreting AIA and subcontract agreements, preparing Owner Contract Change Orders, and coordinating pay applications with accounting.



    Preferred Education, Experience, and Requirements

    • Bachelors degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years of combined project engineering and project management experience in the construction industry.
    • Proven understanding of corrective/preventative action reporting and strong process improvement experience.
    • Previous experience in managing mid-sized commercial construction projects.
    • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
    • Ability to pass a criminal background check for high-security jobsite badging.
    • Valid California drivers license.


    Certifications:

    • Procore Project Management Certified preferred
    • LEED Green Associate or Accredited Processional preferred

    • OSHA 10 or 30; OSHA 30 preferred


    Working Conditions:

    • This role involves both office and site locations.
    • Physical demands include walking, standing, and occasional lifting.
    • The position requires visits to construction sites, including wearing appropriate safety PPE.
