The Electrical Inspector is responsible for ensuring all electrical work on the wind project is completed in compliance with project specifications, industry codes, and safety regulations. This role involves inspecting, testing, and verifying electrical installations, ensuring quality standards are met, and working closely with contractors and project teams to maintain compliance with engineering drawings and local, state, and federal guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Quality Assurance:
- Perform inspections of electrical systems, including wiring, grounding, switchgear, transformers, and control panels.
- Verify compliance with NEC, IEC, IEEE, and project-specific electrical codes and standards.
- Inspect electrical installations for proper terminations, torque values, insulation resistance, and overall workmanship.
- Review and approve electrical work based on project specifications and quality control procedures.
- Conduct visual and functional inspections of electrical components, ensuring proper energization and operational readiness.
Testing & Verification:
- Witness and document electrical testing, including megger testing, high-potential testing, and functional performance testing.
- Verify electrical grounding and bonding systems meet project requirements.
- Oversee commissioning activities, ensuring proper energization sequences and safe startup procedures.
- Identify and document non-conformances, recommending corrective actions as needed.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on inspection findings and status updates.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, NFPA, and other safety regulations related to electrical systems.
- Collaborate with site engineers, contractors, and safety personnel to resolve compliance issues.
Coordination & Communication:
- Work closely with construction teams, project managers, and subcontractors to address electrical issues and provide guidance.
- Support and participate in safety meetings, audits, and risk assessments.
- Assist in reviewing electrical installation drawings, single-line diagrams, and cable schedules for accuracy.
